Macmillan Education India’s CSR Initiatives
NOIDA, India, Dec. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — As a responsible business, Macmillan Education is guided by the mission to transform young lives, families and even communities, by advancing learning. Across the seventy countries that they operate in, Macmillan Education focuses on contributing to the local eco-system in positive ways ─ sparking growth and economic opportunity for all.
In 2018 and 19, Macmillan Education joined hands with Udayan Care ─ a foundation that provides foster care and vocational training to children, to provide learning opportunities to more than 1,500 underprivileged children. Udayan Care is the Indian cooperation partner of Stella Enabling Education, a non- profit organization, based out of Munich, Germany. For these marginalised children, education is often considered a low priority, as they struggle for basic survival.
Committed to Macmillan’s pledge of providing equal learning opportunities to children from every stratum of society, Macmillan support these children by sponsoring their educational requirements. Macmillan employees visit these foster homes regularly and try to put a smile on their faces through personal interactions and help them pick up academic and life skills to face their day-to-day challenges.
In addition to Uadyaan Care, Macmillan also supported the ‘The Blind Relief Association, Delhi’ which works with more than 300 visually impaired children. Macmillan provided audio equipment which would enable the visually challenged learners to access knowledge and improve their employability skills.
Through another association with Computer Shiksha – an organisation that offers free computer education to children of weaker sections of the society – Macmillan promoted digital literacy by training around 150 IT teachers who further reached out to around 35,000 children in marginalized schools.
